Rumbeando la Milonga (Rumba) - 3 by Paco Pena
Rumbeando la Milonga (Rumba) - 4 by Paco Pena
As the title suggests, this is the rumba-ized version of another piece by Paco Peña called Milonga, which is a romantic 4/4 song reminiscent of the milongas of Argentine tango.
Since rumba also uses 4/4 meter, the original piece preserves its essence in this rumba version albeit in a much faster and livelier presentation.
Paco Peña has composed quite a few rumbas for the solo guitar which is quite rare in flamenco music as players usually perform their rumbas with guitar and percussion accompaniment. Rumbeando la Milonga incorporates all manners of flamenco guitar technique including the rumba strum which is quite useful to master. If you wish to learn how to play rumba, definitely try this piece.
Remember that rumba is a 4/4 palo with accents on 1, 2.5 and 4.
The video tutorials focus on various flamenco guitar techniques such as pulgar, arpeggio, picado, free stroke, alzapua, and rasgueado.
There are plenty of flamenco guitar tabs available over the internet ranging from acceptably accurate to completely wrong. I utilize different sources plus the original music itself to piece together something that is as correct as I my ears can discern :-) Besides, when you have a good video tutorial, you also receive a lesson in how to use your fingers to play the falseta.
